Sometimes, you create a card simply because the idea won’t leave you alone. You sketch it, refine it, choose the perfect paper, and hope it lands somewhere special.
Today, one of those cards landed somewhere we didn’t quite dare to dream: Porchlight Press has been named a finalist in the 37th annual Louie Awards! We're extremely honoured to be included among some of the most talented printers, designers, and artists in the industry.
Three of our Nature Bird Series greeting cards have been selected as finalists! This is a very lovely moment for a series that began with pencil, paper, and a genuine fondness for some backyard birds with very distinct personalities.
This series was designed to celebrate the defining character of each bird. The hummingbird with its vibrant flash and lively energy. The chickadee with its dear little roundness and alert charm. The raven with its intelligence, presence, and a certain knowing look that suggests it may already understand more than the rest of us.
Launched by the Greeting Card Association (GCA)in 1988, the “Louies” honour German-born Boston lithographer and publisher Louis Prang, who's known as the “Father of the American Christmas Card." For over three decades, the Louie Awards, dubbed as "the Oscars of the greeting card industry," has been one of the most recognized programs celebrating the very bests in the trade of card-making.
