Intermediate Brush Lettering Workshop

If you have a foundational knowledge of calligraphy, but would like to develop your skills and take your calligraphy to the next level, this is the perfect workshop for you! Come dive deeper into the world of brush lettering in this hands-on, interactive workshop taught by Annabelle of @bellasuu.creates, in the beautiful new Porchlight Press Community Hub space. 

This is a 2.5-hour intermediate workshop that is suitable for someone who has mastered beginner calligraphy techniques and would like to take the next steps into refining their script. Through guided demonstrations and one-on-one feedback, you will learn how to form majuscules (uppercase letters), how to connect letters to form words, how to create letter variations, how to find your calligraphy style, and how to critique your own work. Attendees will also have the opportunity to create a variety of different greeting cards with their newly-acquired intermediate brush lettering skills.

What you will learn:

• Tools and materials required for brush lettering
• Formation of uppercase letters
• Connecting uppercase letters to lowercase letters
• Letter variations and experimenting to find your style
• How to critique your calligraphy and achieve consistency
• Creating your own cards

• A brush-lettered place card personalised with your name
• 2 calligraphy brush pens and 1 pencil
• A set of calligraphy guidesheets created by Annabelle

About Annabelle: 

Annabelle started her calligraphy journey back in 2015, after seeing all sorts of beautiful calligraphy pieces pop up on her Instagram feed. She has taught many workshops, both in-person and online, with brands such as Muji and Oomomo, as well as private team-building workshops with smaller organisations and universities. She organises a local calligraphy community (@vancouverletteringcommunity) with two other calligraphers, and bringing together new friends who have the same interests is another big reason for her to keep creating. Annabelle believes that creating calligraphy is the perfect opportunity to slow down in our modern, fast-paced, technologically-forward world, to connect with the here-and-now, and to ground ourselves via the tactile sensation of pen on paper.

Porchlight Workshop Registration Policy

Cancellation and Refund:

• If you cancel 7 business days prior to the start of your workshop we will issue you a credit for the full amount.
• If you cancel less than 7 business days before the start of the class you will incur a $50 cancellation fee and have the rest of the amount issued to you as store credit.
• Porchlight Press reserves the right to cancel a class for any reason. You will be notified as soon as possible and will receive a choice of a full refund or store credit.

Credits:

Credits are issued in the form of a gift certificate, it can go towards a future workshop, stationaries from our in house line or a custom print job with us. Credits must be used within one year from the date of the cancelled class.
